Enrolment options

This module prepares professionals in the correctional ecosystem and in community-based reintegration services to recognise, analyse and respond to conflict involving people in detention, staff teams, families and other external actors. It combines asynchronous Moodle learning, face-to-face practice in your local CoVE and transnational online exchange.

Learning objectives

After the module you will be able to:

  • identify behavioural, verbal and environmental indicators of emerging conflict through structured observation (LO1, EQF 5);
  • analyse conflict situations to determine escalation risk and select response pathways (LO2, EQF 5);
  • implement de-escalation and communication techniques in simulated conflict scenarios (LO3, EQF 5);
  • evaluate intervention options and select proportional responses while demonstrating emotional self-regulation (LO4, EQF 6);
  • design mediation or negotiation approaches for complex multi-stakeholder conflicts (LO5, EQF 6).

Structure and workload

The course follows the nine chapters of the PROMOTE module, from the module overview to further resources. Total workload is 10 hours: 3 hours of asynchronous Moodle learning, 4 hours of face-to-face practice and 3 hours of online synchronous sessions in English.

Assessment

Assessment is competency-based: case analysis report (20%), de-escalation simulation (25%), active participation and professional attitude (20%) and a final mediation proposal (35%). Every learning outcome must reach at least level 3 (Competent). A formative knowledge check helps you prepare. Completing all activities earns a course badge.
