Team building
What is team building?
Project team is a select group of individuals with complementary skills and disciplines working together towards common goal and sharing responsibility for the outcomes. Team building begins with the effective selection of team members. It also includes encouragement of good working relationships and practices. All team members working on the same project do not necessarily interact with each other, so it is project managers responsibility to coordinate the project with people individually (Burke & Barron, 2014; Wells & Kloppenborg, 2018, “Team building”, 2020).
Why is it important?
Team building is an important aspect of project management, as it can help to ensure that a project is completed successfully. Effective team building can help to create a cohesive and productive team that is more likely to complete a project on time and within budget. There are many ways to approach team building, but some common strategies include:
- Clearly define roles and responsibilities for each team member.
- Encourage open communication and collaboration among team members.
- Foster a positive and supportive team culture.
- Establish clear goals and objectives for the team.
- Provide opportunities for team members to learn and grow.
- Encourage team members to take ownership of their work and be accountable for their contributions.
