International student exchange and mobility have become an essential component of higher education, enabling students to broaden their global perspectives, improve their foreign language skills, and acquire valuable hands-on experience in diverse multicultural settings. At Duy Tan University (DTU), these activities are organized regularly through a wide variety of programs that connect students with peers from around the world.

The opening ceremony

One of the key foundations for these activities is DTU's role as a founding member of the Passage to ASEAN (P2A) network since 2012. Today, P2A connects more than 130 universities and over one million students across nine ASEAN member countries. As a founding member, DTU has successfully organized numerous activities, including hosting student delegations from ASEAN countries, arranging cultural exchange events, and organizing P2A journeys that enable DTU students to visit and engage with universities throughout the region. To date, 439 DTU students have participated in cultural exchange programs under the P2A network.

Beyond P2A, 735 international students have come to DTU to experience Vietnamese culture through a wide range of exchange programs with partner institutions worldwide. These include the Blue Ladder Program, the international student exchange program with Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg (Germany), exchange programs with SunMoon University and Incheon National University (South Korea), the exchange program with Queensland University of Technology (Australia), the Learning Express, the Incite Summer School 2024 Project, and various exchange and study visit programs with universities in Japan and Malaysia. Each program offers unique experiences, ranging from research internships and academic exchange to cultural immersion and international networking.

Through these international exchange activities, DTU students gain a deeper understanding of different cultures, experience community life, acquire practical knowledge, and develop essential soft skills that prepare them to integrate confidently into the ASEAN Economic Community. These programs also provide valuable opportunities for students to improve their English communication skills, expand their international networks, and build a strong foundation for future careers in a global environment.

The greatest testament to the success of these programs comes from the international students themselves. Sng Yi Wei, a student from Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore, shared:

"I really enjoyed all the activities organized by DTU. When I came to the university and interacted with the students, I found everyone to be very friendly and approachable. This trip was truly wonderful. I was sad to see the five days pass so quickly, it felt as though the journey had only just begun. I learned so much during my time here, and I especially enjoyed exploring Da Nang. Visiting Linh Ung Pagoda was one of the highlights of the trip because it is such a beautiful place."

Such heartfelt reflections highlight DTU's welcoming and inclusive environment, where students from different countries connect not only through academic exchange but also through meaningful cultural experiences. By continuing to expand its international partnerships and diversify its exchange programs, DTU is expected to further strengthen its role as a bridge to global education, preparing students with the confidence, intercultural competence, and global outlook needed to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
